Belgium’s leading cable service provider Telenet experienced a parking problem at their offices in Mechelen. The chaotic parking situation was caused by the complex layout of the parking lot and the absence of information about available parking bays. Nedap’s SENSIT sensors were installed to offer this information about every individual parking bay in real-time. Additionally, Nedap’s MOOV uses the real-time information to intelligently manage vehicle access when the maximum occupancy of the rooftop is almost reached. The integration was realized by VSK Electronics.

Telenet is the leading cable service provider in Belgium and specializes in the supply of broadband internet, fixed and mobile telephony services and cable television. The company also supplies professional communication services to businesses in Belgium and Luxembourg.

Chaotic parking situation

At their offices in Mechelen in Belgium, the company experienced a parking problem. Due to the building structure, it was impossible for motorists to get an overview and find an available parking spot. This led to tight space maneuvring and blocking other vehicles by parking in non-designated bays. The result: a chaotic and potentially dangerous situation.

To solve this parking problem, the following systems of Nedap were installed:

  • SENSIT: smart parking sensors that accurately detect the occupancy status of individual parking bays
  • MOOV: management of vehicle access via barriers

Smart parking sensors

Nedap’s SENSIT system consists of smart parking sensors that detect in real-time whether or not a single parking bay is occupied and how long it has been occupied. This real-time parking occupancy information is shown on a dynamic map next to the ramp, allowing efficient guidance to an available spot.

Intelligent vehicle access control

When the maximum occupancy is almost reached, Nedap’s MOOV intelligently manages vehicle access to the rooftop to ensure a real 100% occupancy. Using the real-time occupancy information from SENSIT, the MOOV VMC Lite ensures that the barrier is closed temporarily when the parking spaces are almost fully occupied. The dynamic sign clearly indicates the number of available parking spaces. This prevents motorists from having to drive up the rooftop unnecessarily.

The MOOV VMC Lite provides the solution for the complete management and control of vehicle access gates. The controller is featured with an integrated vehicle access control functionality. At Telenet’s offices, this functionality is used to control the barriers at the entrance of the rooftop parking. Using the MOOV Software, the VMC Lite ensures safe, flexible and easy to manage vehicle access.

The Telenet integration is a combination of Nedap’s systems integrated with VSK Electronics.
